Civil Rights Movement in the USA

This year we have been working on a very interesting project. Teachers and students have been searching for information about one of the most relevant civil movements in history : the fight for equality of Afroamerican people during the 50s and 60s decades of the past century. As usual, the project has been built from diferent angles and perspectives.
You can learn about painting, sports, politics, music, protests... and, above all, about a hard struggle for freedom and equal rights.

                    A journey to New Zealand

The students in the Bilingual Program have been working on a project about New Zealand, the country where our language assistant, Catherine , comes from.  One of the tasks, carried out by  3º ESO C/D in the English class, has been writing and designing an imaginary travel diary.  Different characters: the captain ; the first mate ; the surgeon and his daughter, Therese; the priest  and Clarissa, his wife, and a few other  passengers tell us about a long and perilous journey from Great Britain to New Zealand in the 19th century.

The students have worked in groups, each of them responsible for one of the characters' diaries, We have read and researched about some of the boats carrying immigrants at that time, and also about the tough life onboard:  weather,  meals , illnesses and deaths, daily routines, social life...  Their written work shows and interesting and often funny portrait of the journey.
